TRAINING PRINCIPLES

At Top Flight Performance we believe that strength, speed, and power are key factors to improve consistently. Strength increases force production. Speed increases fast twitch muscle fibers for faster acceleration. Power allows you to move explosively. 

Speed

Baseball is played at a fast pace. Athletes will be taught the correct techniques for running, change in direction, and acceleration.  Speed is an important component of base stealing, fielding the ball on the infield and outfield, and running down the baseline. Improved speed leads to enhanced fast twitch muscle fiber recruitment for after acceleration and rate of force development.

Power Development

You will learn how to develop power by training in plan specific to your sport. We program medball throws and slams to increase the athletes' power output. Since baseball is a rotational sport, getting the athletes explosive rotationally is a top priority.

  • Helps athletes get more explosive

  • Speed and Sprint Work

Vertical Jump Mat

  • Measures and tracks vertical jump height

Strength

Strength is the prerequisite of speed,  athletes need a strong foundation in order to increase speed. Adding strength will maximize force production, muscle coordination, and movement capabilities.

Free Weights

Gravity Box - Bar Speed Sensor

  • Focus on Correct exercise technique 

  • Sport specific lifts

  • Build strength, speed, and power

  • Tracks how fast athletes are moving the bar when doing lifts

  • Translates to quicker field movements
